Don't Diet

The latest weight loss rage is lifestyle change. Makes sense. If what you have tried is not working, change everything! This doesn't sound easy, fast or even possible. How about starting this journey of change with a new way of framing your thoughts? "Going on a diet" as in "Monday I'm going on a diet," indicates there will be a point at which you think you will "end" or "go off" your diet. So, don't diet! Change that to, "I'm more thoughtful about what I eat now."

A recent
Choose Happiness banner noted "You create your own world with your thoughts."  So get started by practicing sentences like:

  • I prefer healthy foods.
  • Healthy snacks are my favorites.
  • I like myself too much to consistently eat junk food.
  • I was addicted to an unhealthy lifestyle but I got over it.
  • This way of eating makes my life more fun.
  • I eat to live the good life.

Okay, it's your turn. Practice turning negative thoughts into a positive future.
